Terms of business

Last updated October 24, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when a business uses Open Aisle's free scan or buys an audit, a fix sprint or monitoring from us. By running a scan or paying, you agree to them. Open Aisle is a trading name of Connor Neary, a sole trader based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom ("we" or "us"). You can reach us at connor@openaisle.io or Office 2130, 92 Castle Street, Belfast BT1 1HE, United Kingdom.

2. Business customers only

Our services are for businesses. By booking, you confirm that you're acting for a business and not as a consumer.

3. Our services

  • Free scan: automated tests on two public pages of a store, free of charge, with results provided as they are.
  • Audit: we test up to six key pages (the home page, a collection, a product, the cart, checkout up to the payment step, and the customer account) against WCAG 2.2 level AA, with tools and by hand. You get an issue-by-issue report, a ranked fix list, a draft accessibility statement and a 30-minute walkthrough call.
  • Fix sprint: we fix agreed issues in a copy of your theme, re-test them, and hand the copy back for you to publish. We agree the scope, price and dates in writing before we start.
  • Monitoring: a monthly automated re-scan of your key pages, a review of new pages or apps you tell us about, and updates to your accessibility statement.

4. What we don't promise

  • Testing and fixing reduce the risk of barriers, but we can't guarantee that your site is free of every barrier, that it meets any law, or that you won't receive a complaint, demand or lawsuit. We don't promise compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act or any other law.
  • We're not lawyers, and nothing we provide is legal advice.
  • Free scan results are automated, cover only part of WCAG, and can include false alarms.
  • Stores change. Our findings describe the pages we tested, on the dates we tested them.

5. What we need from you

  • You confirm that you own the store, or have permission to have it tested.
  • You give us the information and access we reasonably ask for: a start date, a test customer login if you want the account pages tested, and for fix sprints, a collaborator account with access to themes only.
  • You keep backups of your store and decide whether to publish any changes. Please review fixes before you publish them.
  • Shopify, your apps and other services you use are outside our control. We'll tell you about issues we find in them, but we can't fix them.

6. Timing

After you book, we agree a start date with you. Your audit report is due within 7 days of that date. If we haven't delivered it in that time, you can cancel and get a full refund. Days spent waiting for something we've asked you for don't count.

7. Prices and payment

  • Prices are shown on our website in US dollars. You pay in advance, by card, through Stripe.
  • The launch price applies to the first five audits booked.
  • Prices don't include any taxes you're responsible for in your own country.
  • Monitoring is billed monthly in advance and renews each month until you cancel.

8. Cancelling and refunds

  • Audits and fix sprints: cancel before the start date for a full refund. After we've started, we refund the part of the price for work we haven't done.
  • Monitoring: cancel any time, and it stops at the end of the month you've paid for. We don't refund part months.
  • If we can't do the work, for example because the store is offline or password-protected, we may cancel and refund you in full for work not done.

9. Your report and our materials

  • Once you've paid, you can use the report, fix list and statement for your business, and share them with your staff, developers, lawyers and insurers.
  • We keep ownership of our tools, templates and methods.
  • Code we write for your theme in a fix sprint is yours once it's paid for.
  • We won't name you as a customer, or use your store as an example, without your permission.

10. Confidentiality

We keep information about your business that isn't public confidential, and use it only to provide our services. Our freelance auditor is bound by the same duty.

11. Personal data

We ask for access to themes only, and we don't need your customers' personal data. If we come across any while testing, we won't copy or keep it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.

12. Our liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
  • Apart from that, our total liability to you under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • We're not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
  • We're not liable for complaints, demands, lawsuits, settlements or legal costs brought by others about the accessibility of your website.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you book applies to that booking.

14. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
